The actual category identifier in a list consists only of a single ASCII character. Because the category descriptions of a list are not present in a standardized form, RBIL Viewer uses the default descriptions as stated by Ralf Brown in The Interrupt List. These descriptions are used for all lists. To override the default descriptions of categories, or to add descriptions for new categories, you can use a category description file.

The category description file must be called Catdesc.ini, and must reside in the same directory as Rbilview.exe. Whenever a category description file is available, RBIL Viewer will ignore the default descriptions and use the ones stated in the file. Any category that does not have a description will show up as Unknown in the category combobox on the toolbar.

The format of the Catdesc.ini is as follows: Every category description must start on a new line, a line starts with a #, followed by the ASCII-code of the category character and an equal sign. The category description can be specified behind the equal sign, and may contain spaces (unlike everything that is in front of the equal sign). Any line that does not start with a # is ignored.

Example:

#65=Applications

#66=BIOS

#67=CPU-generated

#68=DOS kernel
