Where are Interrup.lst and Ports.lst ?
Interrupt.lst is normally divided over 16 different files (Interrup.a - Interrup.p). In order to create Interrupt.lst (the complete interrupt list) you must combine these files into one file. To do this, you can use the program Combine.com (which is distributed along with The Interrupt List). If this program is located in the same directory as the lists and you have specified the correct list location in the configuration screen, then you can select Run Combine.com from the Options-Tools menu. Everything mentioned here also goes for Ports.lst.
Which lists will show up under the "Open List" menu ?
Any file with the extension .lst that is located in the default list location. This is not 100% foolproof, since not all files with the extension .lst are in the standard Interrupt List format, but this approach does guarantee that any new list that is added to The Interrupt List in the future appears in the menu.
Not all lists of The Interrupt List show up under the "Open List" menu, why is that ?
The list files 86bugs.lst and Glossary.lst do not show up under the Open List menu because they aren't formatted in the same way as The Interrupt List - they are plain text files. RBIL Viewer was not designed to display plain text files, but can actually handle them. If you want to load them, then use Other from the Open List menu. If you want them to show up directly under the Open List menu, then you can must enable the Display all .LST files in "Open List" menu option in the configuration screen.
Why do tables references not show up in the SeeAlso menu ?
RBIL Viewer doesn't support table cross-referencing, so displaying them in the SeeAlso menu would be pointless.
How can I reset the column width of the topic titles to the default width ?
Right click the mouse button on the header and select Default Column Width.
How do I uninstall RBIL Viewer ?
Since you don't really install RBIL Viewer, there is also no real uninstall procedure. Just the program files. You might also want to delete all indexfiles (*.rbilv).
Why does RBIL Viewer use indexfiles and what kind of information is stored in an indexfile ?
RBIL Viewer uses indexfiles to speed up the loading of topic titles. An indexfiles contains all topic titles of a list and some additional information about the position of the topic in the actual list. When you load a list, RBIL Viewer doesn't actually load the complete list into memory, but loads all topic titles from the indexfile.
When does RBIL Viewer create a new indexfile for a list ?
- When a list is loaded for the first time (and the automatic creation of indexfiles is not disabled)
- When the date/time of the indexfile does no longer match the date/time of the list.
- When the user selects Update Topic Titles from the Options menu.
Where does RBIL Viewer store its settings ?
RBIL Viewer stores its configuration settings in the registry under the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DMS Freeware\RBIL Viewer\. When you delete this key, RBIL Viewer will use its default settings the next time you start up the program.
